Martin is renowned as not only a marvellous satirist but also as a wonderful poet, musician, singer and author. He regularly performs at every major folk music festival and folk venue in the country. His appearances and performances at the prestigious National Folk Festival are legendary and he always fills the largest venues of that huge festival to overflowing. A wonderful night of sparkling comedy and great entertainment
Martin is a strange mix of serious song, comedic parody and cabernet merlot. Not quite young enough to be up-and-coming and not quite old enough to be a legend, he will continue to describe himself as a folk-singer out of sheer bloody- mindedness, and will crash-tackle anyone who describes him as eclectic.
"Martin has the ability to take a humorous or a serious song and make it his own. He also has the ability to tell stories that engage and entrance his audience. This is the magic of any great performer. All in all a most enjoyable evening. I left feeling great."
"Variety and wit and effortlessly polished vocal performances. Martin has the outstanding ability to engage the audience, swapping banter and taking them on a wonderfully varied trip. One moment there are members of the audience rolling in their chairs and the next, you could hear a pin drop while they're spellbound by a simply sublime performance."
Bolkien and the "Folklorica" Shows
Martin Pearson’s “The Unfinished Spelling Errors of Bolkien”,
"It seems at first like the most unlikely of theatrical events.
It’s a solo performance of “Lord of the Rings”, done as a musical, with the Australian folk singer – armed only with an acoustic guitar, a silly hat and nary a troll in sight – standing in for a “cast of thousands”. Pearson’s thoroughly affable and engaging stage presence is a delight to watch. It’s suitably supported by his fine vocal performances, and spiced with moments of superb mimicry."
Martin Pearson's "Folklorica" shows
Over the past 20 years, Martin has written themed shows for the Folklorica venue at Woodford. These are 40 minute scripted shows that usually contain 3 songs each. These shows are available to use at your festival and include such subjects as, Humpty-Dumpty, Harry Potter, Fairy Tales, Undead, Myths and Legends and so on.

Huge Rambling Introductions
When asked why he performed comedy, Martin replied:
“Why comedy? Well, I really like making people laugh. There is no finer feeling of affirmation than a hundred people showing they like you by laughing at your jokes and stories. And laughter has all the "good" medicinal qualities. I am currently putting together a diet based on "things that are good for you that make you feel good" (to my mind, "making you feel good" should be reason enough for their beneficent nature, but alas, most people require more reasoning.)
So, my list to date consists of:
Red Wine - medically proven to lower cholesterol and promote anti-oxidants.
That’s it so far, although a doctor down in Port Arthur told me that chocolate starts to be good for you if it has over 70% cocoa solids, so I will soon be adding "finest Swiss chocolate" to the list. I'm doing the research now.”
Martin returns with another years worth of song and story. Hear more about travel and travail, Moroccan riads and Cornish pasties. It is even possible he might be a bit grumpy with the government by January. Come and watch Martin age gracelessly before your very eyes.
